PAL ‘How to’ Guide
How To… Join a PAL Session
- All PAL sessions are on Zoom this year so make sure you have your Brunel
Zoom account ready (see below ‘How To… Create a Brunel Zoom
Account’ if you’re unsure how to do this)
- PAL sessions will appear on your timetable – be sure to check every week
- Your timetable will show which group you are in – groups are letters A-H
o Make sure you select the correct link for your group
- On BlackBoard Learn there will be a Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) content
area – this is where you can find session links and passwords
o This area will be within a specified module code which should be
communicate to students so they can find the PAL content
- All links for the course will be posted in the same document so make sure
you know what group you’re in and use the correct link
- Click on the link and the PAL leaders will admit you to the session
How To… Prepare for a PAL Session
- You don’t need to!
- All you need is yourself, internet access, and the device that you’re
accessing the session from
- You may have some ideas of what you would like to focus on and you can
raise these in your session
o The sessions are for your benefit and leaders want to know what
you need so tell them!
- Where possible join with cameras on, this will help to foster the friendly
and interactive nature of PAL
How To… Contact PAL
- Your first point of contact are your leaders
o Contact them with session ideas or feedback on what you need
How To… Create a Brunel Zoom Account
- Open Zoom in a web browser or the app
- Click ‘Sign up’ and use your Brunel email address
- Follow the on-screen instructions and verify your email address through
the link emailed to you
