Question:
Write the equation of the line which makes an intercept of +4 on the ๐ฅ โ axis and whose slope
is 3

Solution:
Since the line crosses the ๐ฅ โ axis at ๐ฅ = 4, then the value of ๐ฆ at that point is ๐ฆ = 0.
Hence, a point on the line is (4,0).
Now, put the point (4,0) and slope 3
4 into the point-slope form of a line, ๐ฆ โ ๐ฆ1= ๐(๐ฅ โ ๐ฅ1),
where (๐ฅ1, ๐ฆ1) is a point on the line and ๐ is the slope of the line:
๐ฆ โ 0 = 3
4(๐ฅ โ 4)
๐ฆ = 3
4(๐ฅ โ 4)
๐ฆ = 3
4๐ฅ โ 3
So, the answer is:
๐ฆ = 3
