Today, computers, along with Internet technology are being introduced into hospitals to enhance the performance of the medical facilities that are dispensed. Computers in hospitals has also increased drastically due to the fact that the procedures have to be speedy to cater a larger population and the medical services have to be more precise. Clinic management system or known as Healthcare computer system, are computer system products that coordinate and integrate all the inherent activities involve in the management and running a healthcare facilities. They must meet specified security, technology and functionality standards for managing electronics medical records and practice management information. Some systems maintain the complete Patient Information coupled with the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) which is created to computerize manual operations in clinics. The primary purpose is to digitize patient records so as to make data retrieval easy and efficient. Today doctors are no longer found in hospitals alone but are serving more patients and families with their own private clinics, according to the field of specialization needed by patients. Physicians who operate their own Clinic management are
faced with the task of giving personalized care and attention to patients, compared to the generic service given in hospitals. However, one challenge of doctors is the smooth operations of their clinic because additional manpower is needed to take care of records keeping and billing of patients. A physician’s duty is more on the patients’ monitoring, check-up, consultation, recuperation, maintenance. Being in the digital form, patient data can be conveniently shared and accessed by multiple simultaneous users at different locations, resulting in smoother clinical operations and collaboration among clinicians. In addition, clinical tasks involving panel billing, inventory management and accounting are all made easy, and in some manner automated. Economically, clinics benefit from constant cost savings as a result of increased productivity and overall efficiency. In this study, the researchers aim to develop a desktop application design that will minimize all paper works and manual records keeping in a chosen physician’s clinic. The doctor and staff find ease in keeping track of patient’s records. It also means that the patient data can be easily backed up, and be protected for confidentially and from tampering through access control, reducing patient’s waiting time and increasing the number of patients to be served. This system is fully automated,
To develop a Medical Clinic Record Management System with SMS Support for Chacon Medical Clinic that will provide a better service to their patients. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES Chacon Medical Clinic Record Management with SMS Support System’s Objective are as follows: To develop a computerized network-based patient record management. To develop a SMS notification system that will notify the doctor’s appointment, and To generate reports such as, transaction reports, medical certification and medical abstract. SCOPE AND DELIMITATION Clinics are very important like hospitals for it also holds the health and life insurance of patients. Thus, it must provide a reliable, satisfying and efficient services to all customers.
With the help of this study which aimed to develop a computerized network-based patient record management for Chacon Medical Clinic Department, Operations and employee’s performance within the department can be enhanced and improved resulting to convenience, smoother clinical operations and collaboration among clinicians. The system can be used simultaneously by a computerized network-based where the admin and user are two computers connected to the network, where user is programmed to provide patient information to the admin. This system also has security features that will prevent the misuse and hacking of private stored information of the clinic. A SMS Support that will notifies the doctor’s appointment so that he is always updated Also Chacon Medical Clinic Record Management with SMS Support System can generate patient’s medical history, transaction reports where it is a fee charged by a patient, a medical certification where a doctor’s certificate giving evidence of a person’s satisfactory medical examination and also a medical abstract that will generate important information from a patient’s medical record. The system integrates the features which are targeted at dealing with each procedure in the records-
Socio-economic significance. In this study, the proposed system will inspire other students to develop an effective and efficient system. Technological significance. The proposed system will introduce technology to the medical clinics that are until now adapting the manual method of clinic management. The result of this study is beneficial to the following: Clinic. The proposed system will simplify and automate everyday clinic tasks and can help maximize time spent with clients thereby providing better service make it more profitable. Doctors. The proposed system will make it easier for the doctors to manage the clinic and convenient when it comes to retrieving patient records. Doctor’s staff. Doctor’s secretary and staff can benefit a lot from this study, as they are an integral part of the whole clinic management. Patients. Patients are the doctor’s principal assets. And the reason why this study is conducted is to provide a solution to doctors’ need to better serve their patients.
Researchers. The researchers have developed their writing, analysis, and interpretation skills needed to make a good thesis. Future Researchers. This will benefit other researchers who wish to have similar studies as they can get background information from the result of this study which will serve as template to modify their research. organized to accomplish a specific function or a set of functions. Carl P. Zeithami and Thomas S. Bateman of Management function and Strategy cited that, “In today’s business environment, planning has become a widespread management function, involving people throughout the organization in the analysis, identification and selection of goals and priorities.” Authors of the book state that planning is very important for every individual, work group, or organization because it helps the systematic process during which decisions are made about the goals and activities, just like companies using a manual system method to carefully plan on what would be the possible solution to make the system work faster so that there is less probability of errors in the activities, and in considering the need for a computerized system in order to better answer the problem. The Indiana Heart Hospital with a charter to deliver the highest level of cardiovascular care. In designing the new Heart Hospital, planners new they needed a Medical Grade Network. A system that would support and enable the best possible patient care, increase efficiency and productivity. In Israel the system is fully implemented with work instruments that provide clinical safety and cost containment. The system provides practical patient-related needs: medical
files, correspondence, dictionaries, summary and reports, laboratory test results, prescription, assessment scales and patient labels. The patient information system is exceptionally user-friendly and thus readily accepted by the medical staff at the hospital. Related Literature (Local) According to Laura Acevedo demand in her, “What are the advantages of Information Technology in Business?” Information technology, also known as IT, is a comprehensive term that includes all types of technology used to exchange, store, use or create information. Commonly used information technology equipment includes computers, servers, peripheral devices, and Internet connectivity equipment and phone systems. From basic computer terminals to IP-based telephony systems, information technology is an integral part of most modern business operations. Since systems are so widely used, it is advantageous to incorporate information technology into your organization.
The Eztevez Memorial Hospital Admission and Billing System by Azupardo and De la Umbria aimed to develop a computerized hospital system for Eztevez Memorial Hospital (EMH) that would meet the end for practically the admission and billing processes. This system was designed in order to solve the current problems pertaining to the processing of bills of patients, generating reports and the admission process. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for a long time, PGH is acknowledged as the premier institution for service, training, administration and research in the field of health and sciences, the hospital enter its year of delivering quality patient care. Organizational and technological innovation are happening to ensure that commitment is sustained. Related Studies (Foreign) Andrew Siu and Philip Lei from Macau Polytechnic Institute. The study is entitled “System and Analysis Design of Clinic Management System”. This is a medical management system, assisting user to administer a huge data in clinic. In addition, another function is allowing doctor, nurses and administrative
staff. On the client point of view, this is a faster and easeful way to link to the healthcare service by using the system. Aqtar and Azuan from the Faculty of Computer System and Software Engineering, University College of Engineering Technology in Malaysia. The study is entitled “Clinic Management System: Outpatient Management System”. It is a system focused on a web based application, it covers all the processes such as registration, profiling and billing. According to Dr. Bruce W. Dearstyne, an adjunct professor of leadership, management, and information management courses at the University of Maryland, College of Information Studies, “There has never been a better or more exciting time to enter the records management field!” He believes that the challenges and opportunities associated with managing electronic records will continue to grow along with expansion of the RIM field itself. As institutions become more and more dependent on electronic information for all their work, the role of RIM professional is bound to become more important. All that electronic information needs to be managed, and RIM professionals will be at the center of things.
