KINASE CASCADE TRANSDUCTION IN GPCRs
The cAMP -dependent pathway
When the ligand binds with the GPCRs it activates the Gs alpha sub
unit.
The activated Gs alpha sub unit replaces the GDP with GTP leading to
it’s dissociation in the Gs beta gama dime and from the receptor
The activated Gs alpha sub unit binds with the adenylyl cyclase
activating it to convert ATP into cyclic adenosine monophosphate
Increase in concentration of cAMP leads to activation of an enzyme
called protein kinase A
The activated protein kinase A ,phosphorylates another enzyme called
Phosphorylase kinase
The activated phosphorylase kinase adds another phosphate molecule
to an enzyme called glycogen phosphorylase hence activating it .
The activated glycogen phosphorylase then converts glycogen into
glucose
Glucose is carried across plasma membrane into blood stream
