PICC Dressing Change
My PICC line is covered with tape and special band aids. Some<mes, my nurses need to give me new tape and new band aids. These are called dressings.
Other people in the room will need to wear masks to keep my PICC line clean while the dressing is being changed. They might look silly with the mask, and that’s okay!
I need to stay very s<ll while my dressing is changed and I cannot touch it. My nurse will be very happy if I keep my body s<ll.
When the old dressing is off, my nurse will put on a new pair of clean gloves. She will use a special sponge to clean my arm. The sponge is cold and wet, but it’s very important to make sure it’s clean!
My skin will need to dry aHer using the wet sponge. I will keep being very s<ll while it dries. Let’s wait for my arm to dry!
When we are all done, everyone can take off their masks. Everyone will be so proud of me for geKng my PICC dressing changed! The PICC dressing change is done! Great job Brennan!!
