INTRODUCTION. A plant workshop consists machines , tools , and supporting infrastructure used for training and production activities. This report documents routine and preventive maintenance practices implemented in the workshop and evaluates their effectiveness. Plant workshop is equiped with , ๏ƒ˜ Lathe machines. ๏ƒ˜ Milling machines. ๏ƒ˜ Drilling machines. ๏ƒ˜ Grinding machines. ๏ƒ˜ Welding equipment. ๏ƒ˜ Air compressors. ๏ƒ˜ Handtools and measuring instruments. ๏ƒ˜ (^) Electrical installations and lighting. ๏ƒ˜ Water supply and drainage systems. ๏ƒ˜ Safety equpment. MAINTENANCE POLICY AND STRATEGY. The workshop maintenace policy is baised on : ๏ƒ˜ Routine maintenance - daily and weekly checks. ๏ƒ˜ Preventive maintenance - planned inspection and servicing. ๏ƒ˜ Corrective maintenance - repairs performed after detection of faults and failures. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES. ๏ƒ˜ Cleaning of machine after use.

๏ƒ˜ Removal of metal chips and dust. ๏ƒ˜ Visual inspections for loose bolts , oils leaks and abnormal noise. ๏ƒ˜ Lubrication of moving parts. ๏ƒ˜ Check belts tension and alignment. ๏ƒ˜ Inspection of electrical cables and switches. ๏ƒ˜ Testing of safety devices and emergency stops. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES. ๏ƒ˜ Scheduled servicing of machines according to manufacturer guidelines. ๏ƒ˜ Replacement of worn-out parts. ๏ƒ˜ Calibration of measuring instruments. ๏ƒ˜ Inspection and servicing of air compressors and welding equipment. ๏ƒ˜ Checking and refilling lubricants and coolants. OBSERVATIONS AND FINDINGS. ๏ƒ˜ Some machines showed signs of wear due to prolonged use. ๏ƒ˜ Inadequate lubrication in a few machines. ๏ƒ˜ Minor electrical faults such as loose connections. ๏ƒ˜ Insufficient labelling and documentations on some equipment. ๏ƒ˜ Safety equipment present but not regularly inspected. CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED. ๏ƒ˜ Limited maintenace budget. ๏ƒ˜ Shortage of spare parts. ๏ƒ˜ High frequency of machines usage. ๏ƒ˜ Limited time allocated for preventive maintenance. CONCLUSION. Proper maintenance of the plant workshop is vital for safe operation , effective tarining and long term sustainability of equipment. Structured routine and preventive maintenance plan , the workshop minimise breakdown , enhance safety , monitoring and improve overall productivity.
