I. DEFINITION OF POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY
Positive psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on the study of human
well-being, happiness, and strengths. It aims to improve individuals' lives and
contribute to a better understanding of what leads to a fulfilling and flourishing
existence.
According to MARTIN SELIGMAN, Father of positive psychology, the aim of
positive psychology is to catalyse psychology to pre-occupation only with
repairing worst things in life, to also building the best possible thing in life.
According to Ed Diener, also known as "Dr. Happiness," is a pioneering
researcher in subjective well-being. His work has explored the measurement and
determinants of happiness and life satisfaction.
II. SCOPE IN POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY
1. Mental Health and Therapy: Positive psychology interventions can be used to
improve mental health and well-being. Therapists and counselors often
incorporate positive psychology techniques to help clients build resilience,
cultivate positive emotions, and develop a more optimistic outlook on life.
2. Education: Positive psychology principles can be applied in educational settings
to enhance students' engagement, motivation, and overall academic
performance. It also helps educators create positive and supportive learning
environments.
3. Workplace: Positive psychology is used in organizational psychology to boost
employee satisfaction, productivity, and overall well-being. Strategies such as

health outcomes. It encourages behaviors like exercise, healthy eating, and stress
