Time: 2 Hour Max. Marks: 40
PART A
(Answer all questions)
1. What is transposing? Why transposing is needed for conductors? Determine inductance
for transposed lines.
2. What is Ferranti effect? What is the cause of Ferranti effect?
3. Give the classification of transmission lines?
4. Discuss the performance analysis of short transmission line for single phase and also find
efficiency and regulation.
5. Draw the typical layout of power system network.
(5*4=20 marks)
PART B
(Answer any two questions. Each question carries 10 marks)
6. Determine the efficiency and voltage regulation of nominal ∏ network of medium
transmission lines. And also determine the A, B, C, D constants.
7. 1) A generating station supplies four feeders with the maximum demands (in MW) of 16,
10, 12 and 7 MW. The overall maximum demand on the station is 20 MW and the annual
load factor is 20 MW and the annual load factor is 45%.Calculate the diversity factor and
the number of units generated annually.

2) With the help of a block diagram, explain the working of a nuclear power plant. (5)
8. Determine the capacitance and inductance of a single phase two wire lines composed of
conductors.
