Harmonic Analysis in Electrical Power System in ETAP

Objective

➢ To design a power system on ETAP ➢ To analyze the Harmonics of electrical power system on ETAP

Required Tool

➢ ETAP

Procedure

  1. Firstly open editor of ETAP. Drag a power grid and open power grid setting and set the rating and short circuit values. Connect 11kV bus. Figure 5. 1 :Power Grid Rating Figure 5. 2 :Power Grid Short Circuit Ratings
  1. Connect a bus providing 11 kV to transformer .Go to transformer settings and set ratings and impedance at typical values. Here transformer is connected to step down the voltage. Also set power rating to 1000MVA. Figure 5. 3 :Transformer Rating Figure 5. 4 :Transformerr Impedance
  1. Set the Harmonics of static load. To check harmonic analyis,click harmonic then select study case editor and select plot.Choose a bus to plot .Run Harmonic Load Flow Analysis. Figure 5. 7 :Static Load Harmonics
  2. Run Load Flow Analysis. Also run harmonic analysis and see the graphs. Figure 5. 8 :One Line Diagram of Load Flow
  3. Connect a lumped load at bus 2 and set MVA to 2.Onwards perform harmonic analysis.

  1. Observe the plot of bus 3 which is connected with load after selecting none of transformer and static load harmonics.
