  1. The recent increasing prevalence of obesity in developed countries has major implications for patient care in the speciality of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Discuss
  2. A 22 year old student presents to Accident and Emergency Department with a 36 hour history of severe low abdominal pain, vaginal discharge, nausea and fever. You suspect pelvic inflammatory disease. Discuss the history, the clinical examination and investigations you would perform to confirm the diagnosis. What is the treatment for acute pelvic inflammatory disease and what are the possible long term complications?
  3. Discuss the investigation and management of recurrent first trimester miscarriage.
  4. Write short notes on all of the following:

a) Fetal abdominal wall defects b) Thrombophilia screening in obstetric patients c) Gynaecological aspects of Turner’s syndrome d) Granulosa cell tumors of the ovary

  1. Should we screen all pregnant women for gestational diabetes mellitus and why? What are the practical drawbacks of implementing this policy?
