Project 2 November 21st/22nd 20 points
DUE: Wednesday, November 30 at the end of your section for MW recitations
Thursday, December 1 at the end of your section for TR recitations
The purpose of this project is to utilize more than one software application to complete a
task, only receiving general instructions on what to do.
You are to create a letter or memo that calls attention to an event that has occurred or
something you have done (real or made up). The event needs to involve numbers because
you will need to create a table in the letter or memo. A chart of the table is to be used in
PowerPoint for a small presentation (3 or 4 slides) to explain your findings or situation.
Suggestions:
Your business is showing an increase, or decrease, in sales for specific products
in certain cities which you will bring to the attention of your boss
You are presenting your financial picture to a committee that will decide if you
will receive a grant/loan/scholarship to cover tuition costs next year
You have collected data by taking a survey of people’s opinions (you decide the
reason why and what the topic is). You will share the information with
interested parties (maybe this is an assignment for a class!)
I just realized that you will have 2 files to submit for this project. That should be no
problem for you students (the system will allow you to do this) but the TAs will have to
check multiple folders for EACH student (one for the Word document and one for the
presentation). My apologies to the TAs but I expect this will be easier to check (in the
long run) than the former, complex Web design project.
Each file is worth 10 points. The PowerPoint file should have at least 3 slides: a title
slide, an explanation/summary (multiple slides if necessary), and the chart.
Save the Word document as “Proj2a_lab section number_last name” and submit in the
usual manner.
Save the PowerPoint file as “Proj2b_lab section number_last name” and also submit in
the usual manner.
