A Peer Evaluation To asses one’s behavior attitude at the workplace A Peer Evaluation It is when you are assessing a co-worker’s accountability An observational Evaluation With this assessment, watch how the employees perform at work. An observational Evaluation This assessment helps you to get reliable data by observing and recording your employee's actions. An observational Evaluation By assessing these activities, you can get results when it comes to your employees. This assessment helps you to assess employees skill, professionalism, potentials, and their productivity. A 360 Appraisal This assessment happens when you are doing a total evaluation with co- workers A 360 Appraisal when you need to have in every angel the complete feedback of your performance at the workplace. A 360 Appraisal It gives the manager a broader perspective on their employees. The possibility of bias using a peer-evaluation One thing that can be biased is peer reviews. An example of peer reviews is when being observed by your performance, and you did not meet their standards or one’s rule; they can give you a bad review. “Peer review, broadly construed, covers a wide spectrum of activities, including but not limited to observation of peers clinical practice; assessment of colleagues, classroom, teaching abilities; (Sugimoto, et al., 2013)”.there is bias everywhere and peer- evaluation fall right into bias. The possibility of bias using an observation evaluation What is observation bias? Observer preference ( also called experimenter bias research bias) is the tendency to see what to see, or what we want to see. When research studies a specific group, they usually come to an experiment with prior knowledge and subjective feeling about the group being studied ( Stephanie, 2016). Observational bias is used all the time in the workplace. One example is watching someone better themselves at work, and the person become bias towards the person because the person is reaching their goals. In the meantime that person is trying to get the one that is achieving their goals fired. The possibility of bias using a subordinate evaluation Subordinate evaluation using bias does happen in the workplace especially when assessing employee performance. The grading can be biased because of how they view their outlook on how the employee performed. “ underlying the process is the belief that by reflecting on people’s performance and codifying it in an evaluation form, we will be able to assess their merits objectively, give out rewards fairly, and offer useful feedback to help them develop in the next year. But while we may strive to be as meritocratic as possible, our assessment are imperfect and all too often biased (Mackenzie el at, 2019)”. My example of subordinate evaluation bias in the workplace is watching my co-worker performance and giving the level of their
The possibility of bias using a 360 assessment is a total evaluation assessment. It can be biased in the workplace because everyone does not perform at the same level and this is a form of bias. Two strength of a peer evaluation One advantage of peer evaluation is leadership skills. One must know how to lead his or her team effectively. Excellent judgment skills are good to have when it comes to peer evaluation. Two weakness of a peer evaluation Discrimination when it comes to your peer, whether it is at work or school. Reliability can also be peer evaluation; a person must be reliable to their peers. Two strengths of an observation evaluation Being observant of the employees and seeing how well the work gets done. To be able to observe their behavior. Two weakness of an observation evaluation being able obtain enough information on the employee you have observed. Being observant can be time consuming and overwhelming. Two strengths of a subordinate evaluation Performance of the employee. Understanding how the employee works Two weakness of a subordinate evaluation Neglecting your workload Not working well with others Two strengths of a 360 assessment The feedback on employee evaluation. Leadership skills are essential, and this helps employees perform better. Two weakness of a 360 assessment Poor leadership skills.
