Introduction In our universe, each person possesses a distinct tale that embodies their identity. Individuals with those kinds of personalities run the risk of having a lot of negative effects on their lives, including actions, attitudes, and behavior. Individuals differ from each other in part because of their personalities, which define them. People struggle with their own more difficult concepts and problems, which can affect how they behave during adolescence or maturity. A personality disorder may have started in childhood and affects a person's behavior and thought processes. A personality disorder is described as "a manner of thinking, feeling, and behaving that deviates from cultural expectations, causes distress or difficulty functioning, and lasts over time" by the American Psychiatric Association (APA, 2021). In this post, we'll talk about and examine the probable diagnosis for Susanna Kaysen's role in the movie Girl, Interrupted. Pathological Behaviors Susanna Kaysen, the eighteen-year-old protagonist of Girl, Interrupted, is based on a true story. She tried suicide in the program by mixing alcohol and aspirin, but she was unsuccessful, therefore she made the decision to check herself into a mental health facility. They became pals while Lisa was residing in the mental health facility. Their friendship suffered more as a result of Lisa. An awful influence, that woman was. Particularly while she was trying to overcome and get over her mental health concerns, Lisa's mental health was a threat to Susanna. After learning more about Lisa's powerful and exaggerated personality throughout the narrative, Susanna is left with unanswered questions about her acquaintance. Serving others in the hospital gives Susanna comfort even when her own mental health issues prevent her from coping.

The cognitive psychology paradigm requires a variety of cognitive activities, including memory, attention, and perception. In the end, the humanistic psychology paradigm is used by someone who has a connection to or a relationship with their inner sentiments and sense of self (McLeod, 2013). The cognitive-behavioral psychology paradigm would be most appropriate for Susanna's case of borderline personality disorder. The textbook claims that an individual's views are impacted by the way activities are portrayed in the cognitive-behavioral psychology paradigm (Comer & Comer, 2021, pg. 202).Susanna had trouble understanding her mental illnesses and the problems they brought about in Girl, Interrupted. Susanna portrayed her to the viewers from the beginning to the end of the film. She gave an account of the difficulties she encountered and how she resolved them. She experiences more symptoms when she has an affair with a married man. While she was at the mental health hospital, she showed multiple signs of borderline personality disorder. Moreover, this indicates that her impulsiveness and unstable relationships were influenced by her dangerous behavior. Her attempt to end her life by drinking alcohol and taking aspirin was the main factor that made her understand that something was wrong. Upon her admission to the mental facility, her inappropriate behavior toward the doctor was made clear. Therefore, it stands to reason that neurological issues could be the root of her described symptoms. Alternatively, this could have been influenced by the genes of her parents or ancestors.

Treatment Psychotherapy and medication are two treatments that may be helpful for the symptoms of borderline personality disorder. Although utilizing both produces better results, some doctors might advise using just one. Psychotherapy, a therapeutic approach for mental health disorders, includes talking with a psychologist. Susanna's treatment will help her to improve her emotional regulation skills by managing her impulsivity, and it will also fortify her relationships with others. If, especially if, her symptoms worsen, a prescription drug may be added to this treatment to help relieve them. Among these medications are antidepressants and mood stabilizers. Conclusion Behavioral borderline personality disorders can result from a variety of factors that influence an individual's behavior. Symptoms of borderline personality disorder include mood swings, an unstable sense of self, and strong feelings of abandonment. It is challenging to diagnose this condition because its symptoms often mimic those of other illnesses. Counseling can be used to better understand and manage the symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD). This could help them avoid hurting themselves or other people, as well as help them control their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Girl, Interrupted is the best television show to illustrate BPD because its main heroine has a diagnosis of the disease. After being hospitalized to a mental health center, Susanna was able to better manage her borderline personality disorder and gained knowledge about other people's issues.
