1.) What is mental health? Why does it matter to advocate and address mental health issues?
- The term "mental health" applies to the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional well-being. It all comes down to how people think, feel, and act. The word "mental health" is often used to refer to the lack of a mental illness. Mental illness may have a negative impact on everyday life, relationships, and physical health. This relation, on the other hand, works both ways. Mental health issues can be caused by a variety of factors, including life events, interpersonal relationships, and physical factors. Taking care of one's mental wellbeing will help them enjoy life more. To achieve psychological resilience, you must strike a balance between your daily tasks, duties, and efforts. Advocacy for those with mental illnesses and addictions is critical because it: (1) raises awareness of behavioral health problems that concern people with mental illnesses and addiction disorders; and (2) influences policy and decision makers to better effect those impacted by mental illness and addiction disorders in your county, state, and on a national level. Advocating in the form of providing education and awareness helps to eliminate stigma attached to both mental illness and addiction disorders. 2.) With all the lessons you have learned from this modules, what are the strategies that you have to prioritize in keeping your mental health well and stable?
- Anyone can suffer from mental health or emotional health problems especially during these days that we are experiencing a pandemic. Everyone is restricted from going outside of their households that’s why this year alone, one in five of us is suffering from a mental disorder. However, despite of the challenges and problems that we are facing right now, we should not ignore our mental health. Below are the strategies that I will prioritize to keep my mental health well and stable: (1) Making social connections. - Humans are social creatures with emotional needs for relationships and positive connections to others. We’re not meant to survive, let alone thrive, in isolation. Our social brains crave companionship even when experience has made us shy and distrustful of others. (2) Staying active is as good for the brain as it is for the body. (3) Learning how to keep my stress levels in check.
