3. In this case, the crime took place outside. Do you feel it is necessary to secure a
search warrant for Stella's home?
Yes, The reason why is because although the crime took place outside Richard (Rick)
Flores the victim , the suspect or evidence could possibly be in the home. I think it will
be wise to obtain a search warrant for her premises outside and inside. You never know
if evidence is being hidden inside the home or DNA traces are inside the home as well.
It is extremely important to search around the area as much as possible. That way a
thorough search can be done for the case.
4. Several items were gathered at the crime scene. Name the items. Base on what
you have learned in previous courses and in your research, what forensic tests
would you request to be completed on the evidence gathered? Why?
The items that were gathered at the crime scene are a bloody knife (presumed to be the murder
weapon), three empty beer bottles, and a water bottle were found. I would request a DNA
Sample test and DNA fingerprinting test as well. That way it can include hair follicle , Saliva ,
fingerprints etc. The testing is done in labs and can connect body tissue, blood and other fluids
with an individual.
5. This week, you watched an interview that Officer Jones completed on Stella
Berry. What were your thoughts on the interview? Should more questions have
been asked? If so, give examples.
I believe that the interview between Officer Jones and Stella Berry was good. I do
believe that Stella got very defensive when Officer jones asked about Deshawn. Stella
seemed to feel as if officer jones was trying to imply that deshawn was the one that did
it. I also think Officer Jones did well by asking the questions who was all there, I heard
you leaving Nellie a voicemail when I arrived, Why? When was the last time you saw
rick and lastly, asking for everyone’s contact information will be helpful for the officer
and Detective to start conducting interviews.
6. This week, you collected information from D'Shawn Green. Based on his
