RCFE Administrator

Administrator - manages the facility on behalf of the licensee. Dementia is not a disease itself but a group of symptoms that may accompany certain conditions or diseases including alzheimer's disease. Symptoms may include changes in personality, mood and or behavior. it is irreversible when caused by disease or injury but may be reversible when caused by depression drug alcohol or hormone imbalance Department - refers to the California State Department of Social Services Direct Care staff - provide direct care to residents Director - refers to the Director of the State Department of Social Services Do Not Resuscitate DNR form - completed by the resident or (in some instances) a resident's Health Care Surrogate Decision Maker and by a physician, alert pre-hospital emergency medical services personal to the resident's wishes to forego resuscitative measures in the event of the resident's cardiac or respiratory arrest Documentation - supportive info including but not limited to the Licensing Report Egress Alert Device - device worn by a resident that triggers alarm when resident leaves the building Eldery Person -

Licensed Professional - a person who is licensed in California to Provide Medical care or therapy (ex: registered nurse or physician) Licensee - the entity having the the authority and responsibility for the operation of a licensed facility Licensing Agency - a state, County or other public agency authorized by the Department to assume specified licensing, approval, or consultation responsibilities pursuant to health and safety code MEdical professional - individual who is licensed/ certified in CA to perform the necessary medical procedures within his scope of practice Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) - refers to people whose cognitive abilities are in a conditional state between normal again and dementia. It's normal to forget a person's name or the location of an object but MCI residents have trouble with short term memory loss. MCI is a state in which at least one cognitive function (usually short term memory) is impaired to a greater extent than normal for that age. besides short term memory loss, no other symptoms of dementia (language problems, judgment problems, behavior/ personality problems) affect the person's daily functioning. Nonambulatory Person - a person who is unable to leave a building unassisted under emergency conditions. They depend on medical aids or they can't respond/ take appropriate action unassisted Physician - licensed as a physician and surgeon by CA Board of Medical Examiners or by CA board of Osteopathic Examiners Placement Agency - A state funded program or private agency providing placement or referral services for persons with developmental disabilities which is engaged in finding homes or other place for the placement of elderly persons for temporary/ permanent care PRN Medication - any non prescriptive or prescription medication which is to be taken as needed Provision/ Provide - Whenever any regulation specifies that provision be made for or that there be provided any service, personel or other requirement, it means that is the resident is not capable of doing so himself, the licensee shall do so directly or present evidence satisfactory to the licensing agency of the particular arrangement by which another provider in the community will do so Provisional license -

temporary, nonrenewable license, issued for a period not to exceed 12 months which is issued in accordance with the criteria specified in Provisional license Rehabilitation - the effort to reestablish good character since the date of the last conviction, including but not limited to education, counseling or therapy, training, stable employment, restitution, remorse, changes in lifestyle, or community service. SOmeone with a past wants to work for you but you must be able to prove that they have improved since their trouble past in order to get an exception for them Relative - all kin including a spouse from marriage that has been terminated by death or dissolution Request to Forgoe Resuscitative Measures - Request to forego resuscitive measures means written document signed by an individual or a legally recognized surrogate health care decision maker and a physician that directs a health care provider to forgo resuscitative measures for the individual

  • requires a prehospital "Do not Resuscitate" (DNR) form Residential Care facility for the Elderly - a housing arrangement chosen voluntarily by the resident or their responsible person; 75% of there residents are over 60 and where varying levels of care and supervision are provided as agreed to at time of admission or as determined necessary at subsequent times of appraisal. The needs of any younger residents must be compatible with other residents Responsible Person - includes relative, health care surrogate decision maker or placement agency who assists the resident in placement or take responsibility for resident's well being Room and Board - living arrangement where care and supervision is neither provided or available (only food and shelter provided) Serious Deficiency - any deficienty that presents an immediate or substantial threat to the death, mental health or safety of the residents or clients of community care facility Shall - means Mandatory May - Means permissive Significiant Other - a person (including of the same gender) with whom a resident was sharing a partnership with prior to being placed in RDFE. Partnership involves 2 adults who have chosen to share one another's lives in an intimate and committed relationship of mutual caring

  6. a facility where it is apparent that care and supervision are being provided by virtue of the client's needs being met Vendor - department approved institution or entity that assume full responsibility or control over a department approved initial certification training program or a continuing education training program Voluntary - means resulting from free will Waiver - a variance to a specific regulation based on a facility wide need or circumstances which is not typically tied to a specific resident or staff person. request for waivers are made to the licensing agency in advance by an applicant or licensee
