ENG 123 PROJECT THREE

Reflection: Argument I decided to incorporate feedback from my peers and instructor on the argument which both emphasized including opposing viewpoints to the main argument and providing rebuttals. This counterargument strategy involves acknowledging the audience’s standpoints against my argument and re-affirming my argument by providing rebuttals based on factual evidence. I chose to incorporate feedback regarding this strategy as it made the essay more persuasive by convincing readers and the audience that I had considered both sides of the subject matter and that critical thinking was used to approach the issue at hand, ultimately strengthening my argument (Antony, 2023). In addition, feedback from the instructor and peers included having each paragraph refer to and focus on an individual key point or idea. I decided to incorporate this feedback as this enhanced the clarity and coherence of the essay, making it more structured, easier to follow, and enhancing readers’ ability to easily comprehend the focus of each paragraph. Furthermore, this strategy enabled me to undertake in-depth research on key points to ensure supporting evidence and relevant examples were provided for each point stated in the essay, hence making my argument more persuasive. Reflection: Exploration of the Issue The decisions made based on feedback about the exploration of the issue in my essay by both the instructor and my peers included revision and clarification of the thesis statement. Feedback regarding my thesis statement claimed that it was too broad and that it needed to be short and precise to the point. Based on this feedback, I decided to go for a shorter thesis

The strategies that were most effective in supporting my argument included the use of a clear and focused thesis statement that summed up the central point and main idea of the essay, including the key points that would be discussed in the body of the essay and the counterarguments that would be used to improve my stance on the subject matter. In addition, I ensured that each paragraph of the essay focused individually on a key point and provided relevant examples and supporting evidence for every idea brought out. Counterarguments were also included in the essay to acknowledge the standpoints of the opponents of the argument and provide rebuttals to make the essay more persuasive to the audience.
