Sheet 6
Regular Diodes
Required constants: For silicon at T = 300 K, Boltzmann constant = 8.61 x 10-5 eV/K, and q = 1 e =
1.6 x 10-19 coulomb.
1- For the diode circuits shown in the following figure, vI is a 1-KHz 10-V peak sine wave.
Sketch the waveform resulting at vo, assuming that the voltage drop across each forward-
biased diode is 0.7 V.
2- Using the constant-voltage-drop (VD=0.7) diode model, find the values of the labeled
voltages and currents. (Final Answer: (a) D1 & D2 are onV = 0 V, I =0.86 mA, (b) D1
is off, D2 is on V = 3.57 V, I = 0 A)

Sketch the waveform resulting at vo , assuming that the voltage drop across each forward- biased diode is 0.7 V. 2 - Using the constant-voltage-drop ( VD=0.7) diode model, find the values of the labeled voltages and currents. (Final Answer: (a) D1 & D2 are onV = 0 V, I =0.86 mA, (b) D is off, D2 is onV = 3.57 V, I = 0 A)

2 3 - Using the constant-voltage-drop diode model, find the values of the labeled voltages and currents. (Final Answer : first assume VD=0.7 (for Si) or 0.3 V (for Germanium), For Si: (a) D1 & D2 are onV = 0 V, I = 0.16 mA, (b) D1 is off, D2 is onV =1. 23 V, I = 0 A)
