Title: An investigation into the effectiveness of passive listening on online
platforms toward listening skills improvement for 2nd-year students at
the University of Foreign Language Studies of Danang - Vietnam
1. Introduction
1.1 Rationale:
Nowadays, learning English is significantly essential for the young
generation, especially when Vietnam takes a positive stand with International
Integration. Therefore, these seem the main skills for jobs, communication
with foreign partners, cultural exchange. In fact, when people start learning
English, most learners have to face difficulties in learning listening skills, this
problem is one of the most popular causes which leads to learners quitting
learning English.
Presently, sophomore students at the University of Foreign Language
Studies of Danang - Vietnam have encountered many hardships in learning
listening skills. Because they are not used to the way foreigners speak linking
sounds so they are not able to get the ideas of the speakers or cannot recognize
the familiar words. Meanwhile, this is one of the four skills that they have to
learn carefully because listening will become the most important skill for
interpreting in the future.
To improve this problem, they have to practice listening more to diverse
sources. With the development of the internet, learners can easily approach
these sources on online platforms such as films, vlogs, music, postcards in
combination with the passive listening method. Thus, I decided to execute an
investigation into the effectiveness of passive listening on online platforms
toward listening skills to help them solve this knotty problem.
1.2Aims and Objectives
1.2.1 Aims

on online platforms toward listening skills improvement among 2nd-year
