1. Outline some of the barriers to employment faced by ex-offenders and what steps
you believe can be taken to overcome these.
2. Why is the concept of a ‘schema’ important for understanding the behaviour of
sex offenders? In your answer, make reference to the methods used to change
these schemas and whether they have shown any success.
3. Assess the effectiveness of early intervention techniques in relation to young
offenders.
4. Identifying at least TWO different forms of treatment, outline to what extent the
rehabilitation of substance users needs to be voluntarily engaged with by the
offender.
5. Analyse the contributions that social rehabilitative methods can have in relation to
offender treatment.
6. In reference to Michael Howard’s claim that ‘prison works’, discuss this
proposition in relation to the treatment and rehabilitation of offenders in prison.
