The scientific method is steps all scientists have to follow to

have a great experiment.

Define the Problem

Form a Hypothesis

Test the Hypothesis

Analyze and Draw Conclusions Report Observations say guess do think show

4. Draw conclusions, and communicate results Think about what you found out. Was your hypothesis correct? Use what you found out to draw conclusions.

When scientists want to answer a question or solve

a problem, they investigate, or plan to do a test.

Are YOU ready to be a scientist?

1. Define the Problem. Think of a question you want to answer. Write what you already know about the topic of your question. Figure out what information you need. 2. Form a hypothesis. Write a hypothesis, or a scientific explanation that you can test. 3. Test the Hypothesis. A fair test will help you answer your question. List things you will need and steps you will follow to do the test. Decide what you want to learn from the test. 4. Report Observations. Create a poster to show others your experiment and what you learned.

Form a Hypothesis The water might turn a little white. The baking soda might sink. The vinegar might lose its smell. The vinegar might turn white.

Test the Hypothesis baking soda sank Water Vinegar the baking soda and vinegar made bubbles

Report Observations Create a poster or display to show people the steps you took to complete your experiment.
