History – “Historia” – investigation
- focus on wars, revolutions and nobilities
Historia – group of people through written
documents and historical evidences
Historiography – History of history
Positivism – emerged between the 18th & 19th
century.
Postcolonialism – emerged in the early 20th century
Postcolonial history – reaction and alternative that
colonial powers created and taught to their subjects.
Historical methodology – comprises certain
techniques and rules that historian must follow.
Annales School of History – school of history born in
France that challenged the canons of history.
Primary sources – sources produced at the same
time as the event , period, or subject being studied.
Secondary sources – produced by an author who
used primary sources to produce the material.
External criticism – is the practice of verifying the
authenticity of evidence by examining its physical
characteristics.
Internal criticism – examination of the truthfulness
of the evidence.
