Stairway Lizard

I lingered at the window gazing out across my backyard. My attention had been captured by two lizards racing over the stepping stones in a game of chase, they had stopped & situated themselves into lizard style social distancing preforming push-ups. …After the lizards disappeared from sight, I turned and went back to working upstairs at my desk…

I began going about what needed to get done in the routine of new normal. I soon began thinking about each new image materializing in my mind. Be it a certain book, paper and/or drawing material needed to help me fulfill these visualizations, whenever any interesting idea came into my mind, and I discovered I needed something not at my fingertips, I raced down one staircase and then another to retrieve it! I was on a mission….

It took me awhile to focus in on the tiny figure that lay motionless. THERE WAS A LIZARD IN MY HOUSE!! The little lizard was frozen on the edge of the 5th^ step rising above me…

Exactly where I had just come down!

What to do?

Make a plan!

Step 1. Get a bag and something to use to help move the lizard

Step 2. Scoot the lizard gently into the bag….

Step 3. Take the lizard outside and release it under a plant in a cool place.

Step 4. Check on my lizard every-so-often to see how it is doing.

I followed my plan successfully. After going out multiple times to check on my lizard to see if it was okay, it wasn’t until close to evening that I discovered my lizard was no longer where I had left it.

At that point, I was content in the thought that what had become of my lizard had been left to the wonders of nature.
