Stata Commands for Chi-square Analysis: An Example with 'tabi' and 'drinks' Data, Study notes of Statistics

Stata commands and examples for conducting chi-square analysis using the 'tabi' command and the 'drinks' dataset. The first example demonstrates how to use the 'tabi' command with the 'chi2' option to analyze a 3x3 contingency table. The second example uses the 'tab' command to analyze the relationship between 'drinks' and 'religion' data, and sets missing values and labels accordingly. The document also includes the output of the chi-square tests and their respective p-values.

Chi-square in Stata
For this example, we use “tabi” command, one of the so-called “immediate” commands
in Stata. The “immediate” commands apparently allow you to conduct analyses without
having an underlying dataset. According to Stata Help, “tabi displays the r x c table
using the values specified; rows are separated by '\'.” By putting “, chi2” at the end, you
are requesting that Stata include a chi-square statistic. (You can also just type “chi”.)
