Short Season
The strawberry season is relatively short, starting early in May and ending about June 1 - but it's long enough for everyoneto get his or her share. Crates of strawberries sell especiallyfast on Straw- berryFestivalDay,so thosewishingto buy are reminded to get their share as early in the day as possible. Growers will be in Stilwell on FestivalDay to sell berries near the band stand^ where much of the action takes place. Hundreds of^ people, including migrant workers, sfudents and housewives, jump in each year to harvest lhe strawberry crop. A goodpicker.canpick^ about 1OOquart boxesin a six hour day.A few yearsago,73 pickerspicked25Ocrates lrom 2/z acres for one of the best days on record any- where in the county.
