It has different uses and meanings : A) Main Verb :
---- We had dinner with our teachers. ---- She has a cup of coffee every morning. ---- Let's have a break for lunch. ---- Have a seat please. With these examples we cannot use ( get ). It's only used when ( have ) is used to indicate possession or obligation.
---- I will have a gardener cut the grass. ---- I will get the grass cut.
--- I have (I've ) been waiting for an hour. --- They had visited the Statue of Liberty before they left New York. Note :- Formulation of negatives and questions in the present and past

It has the following meanings : 1- to receive something ( followed by a noun ) : -- to get a present (letter , reply promotion , offer , apology , etc. ) 2- to indicate a change ( to become) , followed by an adjective ( a , b ) , or a comparative form, ( c ) a ) to get angry ( hot , sick , calm , angry , thirsty , etc.). b )The adjective may be past participle, to get excited , tired , lost , stuck
c ) The adjective may be comparative degree. ( to get taller , better , worse , bigger , more interesting , more difficult , etc. )
3- to bring / find / buy --- in expressions like --- May I get ( bring ) you a drink? --- I need to get ( buy ) some sugar. --- I couldn’t get ( find ) any information.
4- It does not change the meaning when used with the following expressions : --- I have a questions or I have got a question. --- I don’t have a car or I haven’t got a car. --- We have to work late or We’ve got to work late. --- Do you have to leave now or Have you got to leave now? --- We don’t have to stay any more or We haven’t got to stay any more. 5- A part of a phrasal verb.
