ROLE/POSITION SUMMARY: This internship offers practical work experience and an introduction to a
small company’s information technology systems. The internship will involve challenging opportunities, real
world projects, and regular interaction with staff. It’s an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the IT field
at CSURF. As an intern, the responsibilities will include technical support, hardware and software installation,
configuration, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Technical Support
Assist with technical support and maintenance of a Microsoft Windows (Win 10/11) environment of
40+ desktop and laptop computers, 30+ mobile devices (Apple, Android, and Google operating
systems).
Perform hardware and software installation, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and
troubleshooting.
Teamwork & Outreach:
Coordination with the CSU Research Services for computer set-up, imaging, and helpdesk ticket
elevation.
Share duties managing requests from CSURF staff for technical assistance (a help desk type situation)
by responding electronically and in-person.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Required Education:
Minimum of Sophomore status at Colorado State University, Fort Collins.
Required Experience/Skills:
Knowledge in PC support, critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently, and with a
team.
Troubleshooting Windows PCs and Microsoft Office applications.
Troubleshooting mobile devices, e.g. Android, iOS, and Chrome OS.
Installing and troubleshooting computer peripherals including, but not limited to, keyboards, mice,
printers, scanners, speakers, and webcams.
Analytical skills and the ability to learn and retain new information quickly and accurately.
Preferred Skills:
Understanding of computer networking and security concepts.
Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and server administration.
