effects on the academic outcomes of students. There are several reasons around them that make students
unable to pay attention to the lecture in class. The main reason is the distraction from social networking
applications. Facebook, Instagram, Messenger or Tik Tok are great sources of entertainment that help
students relax, update new information rapidly and interact with others. But those applications consume a
lot of time and attention from students. Instead of paying attention to the lecture, students think and discuss
with each other about what happens on social networks, or focus on the pictures of girl or boyfriends posted
on social networks and as a result, they neglect to focus on the teacher’s lecture. The social networking
applications are so attractive to them. The next reason is the monotony of classrooms, lack of interest in the
lecture. This leads to students feeling tedious and sleepy, hence, they focus on smartphones or watching
videos on the internet and even sleeping rather than concentrating on lessons. Unscientific activities are also
the causes lead to unfocus at school of students, especially their lack of sleep. In addition, students have no
motivation to study, which is an important factor in their inability to pay attention during class lectures. In

Distraction at school has an impact on individual as well as the collective and society. Therefore, it is
necessary to solve this problem. First of all, the school need to have more stringent regulations in prohibiting
students from using smartphone during class. This would effectively block students who are too focused on
the phone without paying attention to the lesson. Besides, teachers should design more interesting lectures
and include some entertainment elements while teaching. Moreover, teachers should let their students do
more research and practical things that are relevant to real life. This can be interesting to students and help
them increase their concentration in class. In addition, parents should also keep an eye on their children
when they use smartphones too much, encourage them to study, and create great motivation for them. In
