Implementing Professional Growth Plan Educators can improve their teaching practice by using a professional growth plan as a systematic approach to create personal and professional goals. This encourages each student's achievement in both their academic and nonacademic undertakings. Implementation of a professional growth plan can enhance a teacher’s instructional strategies, content knowledge and data use, and promote cultural competence and professional collaboration. B. Nonacademic Need One nonacademic need of my students is motivation and engagement. C. Nonacademic Goals
1. Nonacademic Long-Term Goal By June 1 st, I will learn three new strategies that I can use to increase student motivation and engagement during whole or small group math lessons. a. Explanation of Nonacademic Long-Term Goal
My nonacademic long-term goal will help students learn the content with deeper understanding, I can learn new ways to help students that learn better with visuals or hands-on interactions or manipulatives, as well as incorporating more real-life examples into my teaching. This will increase motivation and engagement of students. This will help students be successful.
2. Nonacademic Short-Term Goals a. By September 1 st, I will attend a webinar to learn one new strategy focused on motivating students in math content. b. Weekly, until October 31 st, I will meet with other members of my team to collaborate on strategies used that have shown improvement in math engagement and motivation. c. By February 1 st, I will take a professional development course to learn one new strategy on how to enhance engagement in the classroom. D.
