Educator Funding

Bianca Heddleston Introduction to Communication: Connecting with Others Task 3: Multimedia Proposal Project

INTRODUCTION

  • How much do you spend on school supplies for the child(ren) you care for?
  • If you had a budget on how much per child you could spend, what is realistic to you?
  • Educators only receive $200 a year, on average for their classroom supplies.
  • Educators should receive double that amount, to lower what they spend from their own salaries.
  • As a community, we could accept donations or hold fundraisers to support this change.

EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM

  • A survey I conducted in Cumberland County shows an equal balance of the amount that is spent per child in school for supplies.

EXPLAIN

THE

CHANGE

  • The previous data provided shows that supplies cost more than $11 per child.
  • According to edweek.org, a realistic amount for educators is a $3,000 budget per year.

CONCLUSION

  • Educators are under-funded for their classrooms.
  • Educators should receive higher amounts of classroom funds.
  • The county schools have 3 main fundraisers they do at the beginning of the year, we could include one more to support the educator classroom funds in cumberland county.
