Classification Pattern of

Writing

What is Classification pattern of Writing?

Classification pattern is a method of writing where, information is

  • arranged or organized into classes, groups or categories.
  • classified or sorted out into categories
  • divided into parts

Example 1

  • Shoppers
  • Shoppers can be classified into two kinds, impulsive shoppers and compulsive shoppers. Impulsive shoppers shop or buy on a whim, whereas compulsive shoppers resort to a more planned out and designed shopping to accomplish a goal, even if it is only to feel better. Compulsive shoppers are more likely to get into financial trouble by shopping too much or too often than impulsive shoppers.

Example 2

  • All matter may be classified as either solids, liquids or gases. Solids are firm and have a definite form. Rubber, wood, glass, iron, cotton, and sand are all classified as solids. Unless considerable force is applied, solids cannot change their shape or volume. Liquids on the other hand are not rigid. They do not keep their shape and take the shape of any container in which it is poured. Gases have no fixed shape or volume of their own. They diffuse as they spread out to fill any container. They expand or compress to fit any area.

Example 3

  • Soft drinks can be classified into three categories: cola flavored, fruit flavored, or citrus flavored. The colas, like Coke and Pepsi, are the favorite among real connoiseurs. There is nothing, they would say, like a cola to pick one up or refresh one on a hot day. The fruit flavored drinks are for those with a sweet tooth because they are almost too sweet. The strawberry or grape flavor is frequently overwhelmed by sugar, and to many people these drinks seem syrupy. The citrus flavored colas, like Sprite and 7-Up, are for people who like a tangy drink as these seem to be a paradoxical mixture of sweet and tart. Also, these drinks are good for mixing with other, stronger beverages. These types of soft drinks offer satisfaction for every type of taste buds.
