We have all had a job and wished there were someone on your side, to help you get
what you deserve or need. Do we know what is a union and when you should join on? The
process of organizing the employees of a company into a labor union will act as an
intermediary between the employees and company management.
There are several different types of unions some are vacation, leave medical,
workers' compensation, and civil rights. Some major federal laws are divided into four
sections: anti- discrimination law, compensation law, health, and safety law, and labor
relations law.
When the laws are not followed is when the workforce has an issue. The states must
protect labor, promote full employment, provide equal work opportunity regardless of
gender, race, or creed; and regulate employee-employer relations. There is no way around
these laws they were set in 1974. In one article I read "Sustained trade union organizing
among American workers began in 1794 with the establishment of the first trade union
(Sandroff, Ronni.)"
Now that we know what, when, and how a union works should we form or join one?
Yes, we should a union help the higher-ups hear the worker's voice, and when something is
going wrong helps them find a solution whatever it might be.
The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial-Organizational (AFL-
CIO). I believe this is the best organization because I believe it is the most organized labor

As part of the union, the employees are responsible for informing them of their issues and obtaining an open door for all complaints or concerns. The union workers are chosen and placed into the seats that will go between the different parties. To be a part of the workforce union an employee must vote and pay their respected dues. Some of the ways a union can help employees within the union and not are theses were cited by (By Matthew Walters and Lawrence Mishel)  Unions raise wages of unionized workers by roughly 20% and raise compensation, including both wages and benefits, by about 28%.  Unions reduce wage inequality because they raise wages more for low- and middle- wage workers than for higher-wage workers, more for blue-collar than for white-collar workers, and more for workers who do not have a college degree.  Strong unions set a pay standard that nonunion employers follow. For example, a high school graduate whose workplace is not unionized but whose industry is 25% unionized is paid 5% more than similar workers in less unionized industries.  The impact of unions on total nonunion wages is almost as large as the impact on total union wages.  The most sweeping advantage for unionized workers is in fringe benefits. Unionized workers are more likely than their nonunionized counterparts to receive paid leave, are approximately 18% to 28% more likely to have employer-provided health insurance and are 23% to 54% more likely to be in employer-provided pension plans.  Unionized workers receive more generous health benefits than nonunionized workers.
