UNIT 8 THERMODYNAMICS thermodynamics is the branch of science that deals with the concept of heat and temperature and inter conversion of heat and other forms of energy. thermodynamic system; an assembly of a large number of particles having a certain value of pressure and volume and temperature is called the thermodynamic system surroundings; everthing outside the system which can have the direct effect on the system is called surrounding. thermodynamic variables, the quantities like pressure , volume , and temperature which help us to study the behaviour of a thermodynamic system. thermal equilibrium ; Two bodies are said to be in thermal equilibrium if no transfer of heat takes place when they are placed in contact . Bodies in thermal equilibrium are assigned equal temperature. Heat flows from the body of higher temperature to the body at lower temperature. Zeroth law of Thermodynamics: lf two bodies A and B are at thermal equilibrium and A and C are also in thermal equilibrium then B and C are also in thermal equilibrium. concept of temperature followed from the zeroth law ;
