Unit Learning Outcomes: LO3 Review mechanisms to control organisational IT security. LO4 Manage organisational security. Assignment Brief and Guidance:

You continue to work for a software training company as the lead contact for the small company MWS. You have now been asked to write final reports to help MWS staff and junior colleagues understand security policies. Together with the organisational policies associated with identifying and assessing IT security risks, both, in general and, specifically relating to MWS you need to include information for MWS to protect its critical data and equipment and how to go about implementing a security policy. Part 1: Your initial report must target MWS and its current/future business model. The report should provide sufficient detail for MWS to be confident in its content. The report should target risk assessment and how to mitigate any potential risks identified. In preparation for this task you will prepare a report considering:

  1. The security risks faced by the company.
  2. How data protection regulations and ISO risk management standards apply to IT security.
  3. The potential impact that an IT security audit might have on the security of the organisation.
  4. The responsibilities of employees and stakeholders in relation to security. Part 2: The Policy document must again be for MWS to implement and should be a series of instructions to manage any aspect of organisational security including disaster recovery. Part 3 Your final reflective report should be addressed to your managers and senior managers. In addition to your security policy, you will evaluate the proposed tools used within the policy and how they align with IT security. Please review the subsequent grading criteria for more details on the expected elements and topics that need to be included. *Please access HN Global for additional resources support and reading for this unit.
