(15 marks) (b) The force parallel to the plane required to pull the mass down at a steady velocity. (10 marks) Include a sketch.
Q2 A train has a constant acceleration of 1m/s^2.
Find a) The time taken for it to increase it’s velocity from 20km/hr to 50km/hr. (15 marks) b) The distance travelled during that time. (10 marks)
Q3 (a) Sketch and label a typical load v’s extension graph for mild steel.
(7 marks) (b) A pipe with outside diameter of 50mm and internal diameter of 45mm is subjected to a compressive load of 50kN. Find (i) The stress the pipe is subjected to. (6 marks) (ii) The strain the pipe is under if it’s original length is 100mm and it is compressed by 0.05mm. (6 marks) (iii) The Modulus of elasticity for the pipe material. (6 marks)
