Understanding Templates
At this point, we've already worked with two kinds of special presentations referred to as templates.
In the first hour we used the AutoContent Wizard to open a template-driven presentation with multiple
slides—we can call these content templates. Then when we wanted to enhance the look of our slides, we
applied a design template. A design template doesn't need to be more than a single slide, specially
formatted with a background and coordinated fonts for text.
You might have also noticed that in addition to beginning a presentation from the AutoContent Wizard
within the New Presentation task pane, you can also begin one with a design template or from a template
"on my computer", as shown in Figure 11.11.

When you click to open a presentation from a template on your computer, the New Presentation dialo

accesses all of your available templates.
In the first tab, General, you'll find the blank presentation template and the AutoContent Wizard. In the
Design tab (shown in Figure 11.11), you'll see your designs or backgrounds. If you click the Presentation
tab, you'll see the presentations available as content from the AutoContent Wizard.

Understanding Templates
