Residents of House of Peace Group Home diagnoses with Schizophrenia that develops metabolic syndrome while receiving first-generation antipsychotic versus patients than receiving second- generation antipsychotic in 5 years Life expectancy in schizophrenia patients is about 20 years shorter than the general population (Misiak,2014). Metabolic syndrome is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with Schizophrenia, with a prevalence rate double than of nonpsychiatric populations (Riordan,2011). Riordan, 2011 states that the amount of evidence suggesting a link between atypical antipsychotic medications and metabolic syndrome. Kioko et al. Metabolic syndrome has become an essential element in psychiatric discussions. Antecedents of metabolic syndrome go as far as 2005 by Straker et. Al.
