Ace- a service that scores a point without the opposition being able to play the ball. Block- a way to defend your side of the net by jumping and raising both arms to stop the ball from crossing the net Bump- a two-forearm volley used to pass the ball up to the front row Carry- handling the ball in other than a momentary fashion using the fingers or forearms Court- the court consists of two 30' by 30' playing areas divided by a net and centerline. Dig- a one handed closed fist pass, generally used as a last resort to play the ball Double hit- when a player touches the ball twice consecutively on the same play Double hit- when a player touches the ball twice consecutively on the same play Foot fault- a server is foot-faulted if one of her feet touches or passes
over the back line while serving. Any other player will have a foot fault called against her if either foot passes the centerline into the opposing court Foul- an infraction of the rules or failure to play the ball properly; point is awarded to the team not in error Kill- a shot the opposing team is unable to return Let serve- a served ball touching or grazing the net as it continues into the opposite playing court Net- the net is 3' wide and should be stretched tight across the middle of the court. Regulation height for men is 8' and for women 7'4". A net violation occurs when a player touches the net on any play Point- one point is awarded after each serve to the team winning the rally. Rally- the period of time from when the ball is served until the play stops Replay- a point can be replayed under certain circumstances, especially in disputes Serve- the way to put the ball into play at the start of each point
