๏ (^) Tubal tonsil
๏ (^) Palatine tonsils
๏ (^) Lingual tonsils
๏ (^) Surface-
๏ (^) A)Medial surface-
๏ (^) It is covered by stratified squamous epithelium.
๏ (^) It has 12 to 15 crypts
๏ (^) The largest crypts is called intratonsillar cleft.
๏ (^) B)Lateral surface-
๏ (^) It is covered by the sheet of fascia which forms
the capsule of the tonsil. ๏ (^) The capsule is an extend upto pharyngobasilar
fascia. ๏ (^) It is attached with the pharynx and tongue by
the superior constrictor, styloglossus, palatoglossus and palatopharyngeus. ๏ (^) The firm attachment keeps the tonsil in place
during swallowing
๏ (^) Borders-
๏ (^) Anterior borer is related to the palatoglossus
arch with its muscle ๏ (^) The posterior border is related to the
palatopharyngeal arch with its muscle
๏ (^) Poles-
๏ (^) The upper pole is related with the soft palate
๏ (^) The lower pole is related with the tongue
๏ (^) Artery supply:
๏ (^) Mainly it is supplied by tonsillar branch of the
facial artery ๏ (^) Additional sources-

๏ (^) Dorsal lingual branches of lingual artery
๏ (^) Ascending pharyngeal branches of external
carotid artery ๏ (^) The greater palatine branch of maxillary artery

๏ (^) Acute tonsilitis
๏ (^) Chronic tonsilitis
๏ (^) Tonsilllar abscess
๏ (^) Ca-tonsil
