Discussion: Omaha System Case Study The Selected Case Study : Tamika J. Phases of Home Visiting The case study focuses on a 19-year-old female who has serious financial difficulties to the level of being unable to afford the most basic needs including food and healthcare. She is pregnant, but she is not sure of the pregnancy due date. She smokes at least half a pack of cigarettes a day and she is convinced that smoking does not necessarily affect fetus health. The home-visiting nursing approach comprises three main phases including orientation (the nurse introducing herself to the patient), working (collecting subjective information from the client), and resolution/termination (client’s competence in self-care) (Schoon et al., 2018). I would enact the orientation phase to Tamika's case by communicating to her my name and avoiding being judgmental of her behavior. Smoking affects the health of the fetus and increases the risks of disability for the unborn child; therefore, the duty to protect obligates the nurse to encourage smoking cessation (Gupta et al., 2019). On the other hand, the autonomy

one cigarette every two days during the therapeutic period. She would also report better fetus health. References Gupta, P., Ray, C., Sharma, S., Singh, M., Lal, P., Goel, S., ... & Cnattingius, S.
