LAB 10:
Well Logging
This lab will demonstrate how to use well logs to solve a geologic problem.
Copy the data file and the Matlab script from the GG450 Home page onto your home (Z) drive
on bambam. Open the data file in Wordpad, delete all of the words prior to the first line of data
and save it in text format with a new name (the Matlab script uses “log_data_AAPG”).
First, make sure that you can read the data file and m ake a plot with all 5 log curves using
Matlab.
Then follow the suggestions in the AAPG exercise (Case Study 4) to m ake an interpretation of
the logs.
