The basic parts of a desktop computer are the computer case, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and power cord. Each part plays an important role whenever you use a computer.
A desktop computer is made up of several basic parts: 1: Computer case: The computer case is metal and plastic box which contains the main components of a computer icluding, the motherboard, central processing unit (CPU), and power supply (This is where the actual processing happens). Today most cases are tower cases, which means they stand up vertically. Sometimes you may see a horizontal case, which is often called a desktop case. 2: Monitor: In order to view anything on your computer, you will need to have a monitor. The monitor connects to the video card inside your computer case to display images and texts on screen. Newer monitors have LCD or LED displays, which can be very thin, so they do not use much desk space, are often called flat-panel displays. To save even more space you can buy an all-in-one computer, which combines the monitor and the computer case into a single unit (e.g., mac). Old monitors use CRT displays, CRT monitors are much larger and heavier, and they take up more desk space. 3: keyboard: The keyboard is one of the main ways to communicate with a computer. There are many different types of keyboards, keyboards come in different shapes and sizes (e.g., wireless keyboard or ergonomic). 4: Mouse: The mouse is an another important tool to interact with computer, commonly known as pointing
device. The mouse is used to control the mouse pointer on the screen, it can either be optical or mechnical. Some people prefer to use a trackball or touchpad (commonly called mouse alternatives) instead of mouse since they do not need to move around like mouse when you are using them, these use less desk space.
So these are the basic parts of a desktop computer, each part plays an important role.
