What is Math Nation?
1. Dynamic Content Videos, Aligned to the MAFS: Effective, entertaining videos feature renowned
Study Experts and dynamic teachersall highly trained, energetic pros from throughout Florida.
Unlike other tutoring videos, MATH NATION’s high quality videos are interactive. Students see the
problem and the instructor at the same time, and walk through individual practice problems step by
step. The On-Ramp Tool to Algebra also lets students review fundamental skills like performing
arithmetic with fractions. MATH NATION offers resources for Middle Grades, Algebra 1, Geometry,
Algebra 2 and beyond!
2. Study Guides: Download, print and/or view study guides, so students can use them to follow along
with the videos. The study guides also promote organization and good note-taking skills.
3. Practice Tool: Students can test their knowledge by using the Check Your Understandingand ‘Test
Yourself!’ Practice Tool under the “Videos and More” tab. When students complete each ‘Test
Yourself!’ exercise, the tool directs them to specific videos based on their areas of weakness. There
are also detailed video solutions for each practice problem.
4. Interactive Wall (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2): Students can ask questions and receive answers
from peers, Study Experts and teachers. Study Experts moderate the interactions in real-time,
answering questions and reading every thread to ensure the accuracy of peer replies. The Wall is a
safe, supportive learning environment where students can ask questions they may not want to ask in
class, and the discussions students engage in on the Wall provide learning opportunities not only for
the students asking the questions, but for those helping actively and those following the threads as
well! Students can earn Karma Points for helping their peers on the Math Walls. Recently, top Karma
Points earners have won iPads, tee-shirts, and other great prizes to recognize their efforts helping
peers!
5. Teacher Area: Teachers have a special teachers-only community on MATH NATION. Teachers can
download reports on their students' activity, find great curated teaching resources, and collaborate
on their very own private "Teacher Wall"! In the Teacher Area, teachers will also find teacher solution
guides to the material on MATH NATION.
