What is prejudice? A negative view on a type of people or group even when you don’t have any actual reason to dislike them. How do we see it in the story? Vincent not only hates Julien, but he also hates Jewish people even though he has no reason to hate them it's just how he was raised even if they didn’t do anything to him or his family.
What is perseverance? Doing something despite it being hard or difficult How do we see it in the story? We see perseverance it both Julien and Sarah. With Julien we see how he endures bullying and taunting throughout the story. With Sarah we see how see endures antisemitism during the war and being alone for long periods of time.
Authors develop characters by describing their personality and their appearance. We can call these character traits. They also have characters talk with one another through dialogue. Lastly, authors use conflict to give the character motivation.
What was the Beast of Gevaudan? A French myth that is like the big bad wolf in American Folk lore. (How is it used in the story?) In the beginning of the story, it is used as a symbol of fear but on pg.'s 155- it was used a beacon of safety from being killed by Vincent.
