Zoology comes from Ancient Greek words ῷον, zōion, i.e. "animal" and λόγος or logos, i.e. "knowledge, study". According to Wikipedia, the history of Zoology traces the study of the animal kingdom from ancient to modern times. Zoological sciences emerged from natural history reaching back to biological works of Aristotle and Galen in the Ancient Greco Roman World. During the Renaissance and early modern period, it was revolutionized in Europe by a renewed interest in empiricism and the discovery of many novel organisms. Vesalius and William Harvey were known to use experimentation and careful observation in physiology. Carl Linnaeus, Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, and Buffon began to classify diversity of life and the fossil record, as well as the development and behavior of organisms. Conrad Gessner Born in 26th^ of march 1516, he is a Swiss physician, naturalist, bibliographer and philologist. He is known for his monumental work of animal life; The Historiae Animallum ( 1551-1558) to be the start of modern Zoology. It contained 4,500 encyclopedia of animals that appeared in 4 volumes between 1551 and 1558; quadrupeds, amphibians, birds and fishes and soon snakes which was issued in 1587.
William Harvey Born in 1st^ of April 1578, was an English physician who made seminal contributions in anatomy and physiology. Known for his detailed descriptions of systematic circulations and properties of blood.
