Zoom Session Summary Paula Galicia West Coast University NURS 180: Pharmacology Professor Ogaldez August 13, 2021
Zoom Session Summary This pharmacology class was really fun! Professor Ogaldez made it interesting to learn about, I learned an ample amount of things regarding this class. I helped me utilize evidence- based pharmacology principles, such as those in pharmacotherapeutics to safely deliver client care. By the end of this class I was able to indicate each generic drug's therapeutic and pharmacological classification, as well as its mechanism of action. It taught me how to assist the nursing process in the administration of medications and apply pharmacology knowledge within the scope of practice of a registered nurse. It also taught me how to ensure client safety when administering medications, communicate effectively and to calculate dosages accurately before administering medications. Depending on the environment in which they work, nurses could be administering medication to patients as frequently as every few minutes. A solid understanding of pharmacology and potentially deadly drug interactions is therefore essential for nurses. If you want to be successful in clinical practice, every student must have a good understanding of pharmacology. The way I would study pharm for NCLEXRN is that I would go over every resource I can find and go over a bunch of questions related to the subject. I would study the drugs by drug family and their classification. Studying basic information such as the indications, contraindications, adverse effects, nursing responsibilities, and client teaching for each family of drugs would be much helpful. I would keep in mind that many drug families have a particular ending to their generic drug names that help recognize a particular drug such as -olol for beta blockers or -pril for ACE inhibitors. I would figure out which are my strong areas of
