THEATRE The main differences CINEMA

  • The lines follow Shakespeare's original ones. Therefore even the facts narrated are faithful to the original
  • The acting and expressiveness are more heartfelt and passionate - Some of the lines are the same as the original, but there are many changes and adaptations. In fact, the director can choose to add or remove scenes at will - The acting is more “realistic” and adapted to the big screen

The tragedy had to have a cathartic effect on the

English spectators of the time who so never dared to

follow in the footsteps of Macbeth. Shakespeare

probably decided to give the opera this educational

connotation because he was influenced by the recent

Gunpowder Plot, organized against King James I.

Catharsis: It is a process in which strong emotions are experienced by the audience because they identify with the characters. This is what makes a tragic play, the course of emotions that the audience feels for the protagonist.
