1. Are there any particular activities that surprised/amazed/shocked/appalled you? Which of
them would you like to apply yourself? Which of them would you rather avoid? Why?
Plan environment –“ In the local radio have students talk about the content of the
magazine.”
With this particular activity, I was positively surprised probably as I have never experienced these
kind of tasks throughout my learning process. I would be so excited and motivated to have a talk in
radio and practice my speaking skills there. It is crucial for learners to have a purpose and this talk
is a purpose from the capital P to my mind. All teachers/schools have to look for opportunities like
this. Learners’ skills are not used just for practice in this case, they are used for real-life situation.
The same applies to improving writing skills. If there is an opportunity to collaborate with some
magazines or Internet pages, the teacher should take it without any hesitation. I believe students
would not need any additional motivation from teacher in endeavoring to perform at their best.
In several lesson plans for younger beginners activities with puppets were introduced
which I personally find it an amazing idea.
Puppets are a good way to deliver information to students and help them retain it. Teachers can
also use puppets to demonstrate proper pronunciation to help students develop language skills.
Moreover, it creates a positive atmosphere in the classroom, which leads to energy and motivation
in the learning process, both for the teacher and the student. This is especially helpful for shy or
timid students who may be nervous to speak during class. Puppets can serve as a medium for the
students to become comfortable expressing themselves verbally, hence they are a useful tool for
primary school especially or children with special needs.
Planning a trip of a lifetime phase 1 lesson plan template (using phone and
computers) Internet work:
“The class is divided into bigger groups, with each group having three computers. All
students from each group go to VisitScotland.com website (http://www.visitscotland.com)
and click at “Things to do” in the menu at the top of the page. Now, they click at
“Itineraries” in the drop-down menu. (…).”
It was not a shocking task for me; nevertheless, I am happy that schools in all over the world use the
Internet for learning purposes. I do not recall such a thing when I was at school (we simply did not
have any access to the Internet and computers). Browsing the Internet equals browsing the shelves
of a library, you can access information on seemingly limitless topics.
Although, possibly the biggest obstacle facing researchers on the Internet is how to effectively and
efficiently access the vast amount of data available. With the Internet's potential as a research tool,
teachers must instruct and guide their students on manageable strategies for sorting through the
abundance of information. The search for reliable resources can be both overwhelming and
frustrating if students are left on their own in their initial search.
From my perspective, the Internet is a powerful source of information and a great tool. If used
wisely in classrooms it will be definitely a beneficial way to both engage learners in lesson and
enable them to complete the arduous task successfully.

2. How similar or different was the lesson structure to what you are used to? How similar (or distant) were the lessons from the lesson models described in your reading?

It was quite similar while almost each lesson plan had an introduction (PPP) group work a lot It depends on the lesson plan while a lot of them were a part of the whole sequence. Unfortunately, I am (or maybe was) used to lesson plans from course books, my teacher was so afraid to provide innovations to our lesson because of the educational program, she was blindly following it (each lesson focused on a new topic, sometimes if the topic was complex, we had maximum two lessons dedicated to that issue). It is slightly disappointing since I view this structure as an advantageous way to analyze given subject carefully. Apart from those examples, vast majority of lessons were based on a well-known model, i.e., PPP. This one is not rocket science, apparently, that is why it is common in lesson plans no matter what country it is. At the beginning, a teacher presents a topic in context and engages students to take an active part in the lesson. The following stage aims to practice a language in specific activities. The final stage, however, focuses on a production aspect. This lesson model is universal, straightforward, and easy to prepare. It scaffolds the learning process into smaller chunks – (expose learners to the structure, gives them controlled practice and free practice). Of course, we should not overuse the standard model, instead it is far preferable to experiment on other types of constructing lessons and by it make them more captivating,

3. If you were to teach the consecutive lesson (the one following that described in a selected lesson plan), how would you plan it? Would you follow the procedure shown in the lesson plan or would you rather use the one preferred by you? I genuinely liked the lesson I evaluated (7a8d (…) b4c1). It was a continuation of a previous one where students were introduced to letter writing techniques and formal/business letters in particular. Consequently, learners gained the basic knowledge about this particular type of writing along with essential vocabulary and phrases. In general, students were prepared to move on to the next stage. The second stage was namely the lesson from the folder. Its principal aim was to provide an opportunity for students to practice writing their own complaint letters using various kinds of work (whole class, in pairs). If it comes to the following lesson plan, the author suggested that during the next class pairs will be supposed to present their work while the other students will assess the presentation filling the rubric as a part of peer correction. After such a feedback, learners can make some alteration to the letter and then it will be posted on a class bulletin board. Furthermore, the author envisioned already the fourth lesson plan as a conclusion to this big cycle: individual work, each student will chooses the type of formal writing they like and write it. I would undoubtedly follow the proposed steps while I consider all four lesson plans interconnected and concisely organized. I admire the way the author prepared this sequence in order to create smooth transitions between lessons. Well-planned lesson plans benefit both the teacher and the students: classroom disruptions are minimized, the stress on the teacher is reduced and the learning environment is optimized for the students. Learners will benefit from the smoother transition since they will be better prepared to absorb new material when it is presented in an orderly manner. At the same time, sequencing lessons in advance allows teacher to predict how long he think it will take to cover certain material, and then see how long it actually took to attain planned objectives.
