A subculture is a certain style, way of life and thinking of certain social groups within a society. Initially a musical subculture popular in South Korea during the 1990 s, Korean Pop, or K-pop, has transformed into a global cultural phenomenon.
The K-pop subculture is a musical youth subculture that has its own values, rules and norms of behavior, a status structure, and its own fashion. And it consists of the following elements: K-pop music; K-pop cover dance; K-drama; K-beauty; K-design; K-tourism.
K-pop music. The contribution of Korean pop music to the popularization of K-pop is quite significant, as it was the beginning of the globalization of the entire subculture. The music is a bit unusual for us. Almost all the performances are accompanied by first-class choreographic numbers. In their lyrics, the performers touch upon such important topics as discrimination, bullying, independence, friendship, struggle against society, and love. The videos are bright, large-scale with their plot and choreography.
K-design. Covers all types of Korean design (from cars and mobile devices to Korean clothing and book illustrations). Korean fashion designers, graphic designers, and illustrators have created their own unique, world-famous style.
K-drama. Korean television series, which have their own name - dramas, are the next part of the entire subculture. The drama expands the European viewer's understanding of the traditional values of Asian peoples.
Korean music is only gaining momentum, and it is definitely not going to lose ground. Koreans have a competent approach to everything related to marketing and any organizational and technical issues. Plus, you will never see a person on the Korean stage who can't sing or can't learn to dance.
