Week 6 Guided Reading: Phonics, Fluency, & Comprehension for First Graders, Exams of World Music

A learning resources guide for First Grade students during remote learning. You have received this packet because your child previously worked with one of the TAES reading teachers for
guided reading instruction

During this time of remote learning, Mr. Shue will be working with all 1st grade students who previously
saw a reading teacher for guided reading. If you have any questions about any of the activities, please
feel free to reach out via email to [email protected]. We can then make further arrangements
to connect through phone, email or even a Zoom meeting.
This week’s activities include some new routines in reading, phonics and/or writing instruction based on
your child’s approximate instructional reading level. Activities can be completed and submitted via
email to Mr. Shue or can be returned to a bin designated for collecting work outside the Elementary
School.

Day 1 1. Read Blend Passage - bl 2. Word of the Day - have

  • Phonics Skill - color the words that new sight word begin with the blend bl read sight word of the day sentences
  • Fluency - each time you read passage, highlight and trace word of the day color a picture clue from the story. Extension: Write a sentence using the focus word
  • Comprehension/ Writing on a piece of paper.
